VIRTUOSO – December 12, 2020

Despite the pandemic this year, Christwood School held its Annual Western Music Competition, Virtuoso, on December 12, 2020. With over 100 piano entries from across the globe, it was quite a successful event. The judges were well-known musicians and pianists, Ms. Lavaniya Kumar (K.M Conservatory) and Mr. John Pettigrew (Cross Rhythms).
28 participants were shortlisted for the finals, which took place live on Zoom. The Judges highly commended the performances and encouraged all the participants.
In the first category of the age group 7-10 years, Isaac Watts came in first, Nirvrithi was second and Vibin won the third place.
The next category (age group 11-14 years), Avishai Justin bagged the first place and Naren Shankar and Imlijungla bagged the second and third places respectively.
The final category with the age group 15-17 years had Juanita Sharon in the first place, Elijah Nathaniel in the second and Japhin Ronald in the third.
This year saw a big improvement in the level of student performances, and many regular entries has bettered their game in terms of playing their instrument. Christwood school looks forward to hosting the next Virtuoso in 2021 as well.
